Virginia Mayo was born in St Louis, Missouri on
November 30, 1920.
She was in many dancing productions in St.
Louis. She appeared with Eddie Cantor on Broadway
in 1941's Banjo Eyes. With Danny Kaye she made some
successful comedies, including: Wonder Man (1945),
The Kid from Brooklyn (1946) and The Secret Life of
Walter Mitty (1947).
One of Virginia's greatest performances was in
White Heat in 1949 were she played the role of
Verna Jarrett the wife of gangster Cody Jarret.
In 1947 Virginia married actor Michael O'Shea,
who died in 1973. They had one child Mary Catherine
O'Shea who was born in 1953. They lived for several
decades in California.
